WETS25 Wireless RTD Temperature Sensor

The WETS25 wireless RTD temperature sensor puts a real industrial probe where you need a reading and sends it to your phone. Thread it into a port, pair it in the app, and you have live temperature plus a stored history, with no wiring back to a controller and no handheld meter to hold in place while you wait for it to settle.

The stainless RTD probe measures from -148°F all the way to 932°F, which is well past the ceiling of the consumer sensors and cold chain loggers this often gets compared to. Five probe lengths, two standard threads, a three second time constant, and up to 18 months of battery life. Designed and built by Phoenix Sensors in Arizona.

Choosing Your Probe Length and Thread

Probe length. This is the choice that decides whether your readings are accurate. A probe measures the temperature of whatever surrounds the tip, so a probe that barely enters the pipe reads a blend of the fluid and the pipe wall, which usually reads low. A good rule is to immerse at least ten times the probe diameter. This probe is 0.25 inches across, so aim for 2.5 inches of immersion or better wherever you can.

Thread. Match the fitting on your equipment. 1/4″-18 NPT is the common thread on North American process, hydraulic, and HVAC equipment and is the safe pick if you are unsure. 1/8″-27 NPT suits smaller fittings and installs with no room for the larger hex. 7/16-20 UNF and custom threads are available on request.

Where It Is Used

Commercial ovens and food equipment, steam lines and boilers, hydraulic pumps and reservoirs, HVAC supply and return, pool and spa heaters, air compressors, process tanks, and any machine where a hot component needs watching but running a wire to it is not practical. Compatible with liquid, air, and gas media suitable for a 304 stainless probe.

Common Questions

Do I need anything besides the sensor? A phone or tablet and one of the apps above. No gateway, receiver, controller, or wiring.

Does it work with iPhone? Yes. The WEXS apps are on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Will it alert me if temperature changes? No. The WETS25 displays and records while connected to your device. It does not alarm or notify. Contact us if you need unattended alerting.

The probe reads to 932°F, so can I put the whole sensor in an oven? No. Only the probe tolerates that heat. The body holding the electronics and battery must stay within -40°F to 221°F, so mount it so the housing sits outside the hot zone.

Which probe length should I order? When in doubt, 4 inches. It gives enough immersion for accurate readings in most pipe and tank work. Order shorter only when clearance forces it.

What is an RTD? A resistance temperature detector, the sensing element used in industrial instrumentation because it stays accurate and stable across a very wide range. It is a step up from the thermistors found in consumer temperature gadgets.
