WEPS06 Industrial Wireless Pressure Transmitter

The WEPS06 wireless pressure transmitter replaces a wired transducer in places where running cable is expensive, disruptive, or simply not possible. It threads into your pressure port, transmits on the license-free 2.4 GHz band, and a paired PS6W receiver converts the signal back into the 4-20 mA or 1-5 V dc output your panel already expects.

Line of sight range is about 1,640 feet, and up to roughly 2,500 feet with the optional 3 dBi antenna. The battery lasts up to five years at the default ten second update rate. Stainless steel body, ceramic diaphragm, and Viton seals for compatibility with oil, air, gas, and other non-corrosive media. Designed and built by Phoenix Sensors in Arizona.

Please note: the WEPS06 is a transmitter, not a standalone sensor. It requires a compatible PS6W receiver to produce a usable output. There is no phone app; pairing is done with a DIL switch inside the unit. Order a receiver alongside the transmitter if you do not already have one.

Choosing Your Range, Port, and Pressure Type

Pressure range. Choose a range roughly one and a half to two times the highest pressure you expect. Too small and you have no headroom for spikes; too large and you give up resolution, because accuracy is a percentage of the full range. Standard gauge ranges run from 15 PSI up to 6,000 PSI. Rough starting points: air filter loading and low air systems 15 to 30 PSI, pool pumps, irrigation and water systems 75 to 150 PSI, shop air, compressors and well systems 300 PSI, natural gas and process lines 750 to 1,500 PSI, hydraulic pumps and heavy equipment 3,500 to 6,000 PSI.

Pressure port. Match the fitting already on your equipment. 1/4″-18 NPT is the standard stainless fitting and the right pick across North American air, water, and hydraulic systems. 1/4″-19 BSPP suits equipment built to European and Asian standards. Adapting between thread forms is the most common cause of a leaking install, so order the port you actually have.

Pressure type. Gauge is measured relative to the air around it, the same way a mechanical gauge reads, and is the right choice for nearly every field application. Absolute and compound (vacuum) versions are available.

Receivers and Outputs

The transmitter pairs with one of the PS6W family of receivers. Which one you need depends on how many sensors you are running and what you want the data to do.

Receiver Output
PS6W-1 One 4-20 mA and 1-5 V dc channel, plus one relay output for alarm functions.
PS6W-5 Five 4-20 mA or 1-5 V dc channels and one relay output. Each transmitter is assigned a channel by DIL switch.
PS6W-USB Displays and logs data on any PC running desktop software.
PS6W-PORT RS-232, RS-485, or Ethernet MODBUS. Expandable to 128 analog or relay outputs with ISOSLICE I/O modules.
WEXS06-IoT-CEL Built-in cellular modem sends readings to a remote server.

A 3 dBi antenna (PS6W-IANT-3) extends range, and a 1/4″ BSP swivel adaptor lets you align the head toward the receiver after installation.

Where It Is Used

Water trucks, liquid and oil tanks, and spa level monitoring by pressure head. Agricultural irrigation and pivot systems. Natural gas pipe equipment and process lines. Oil and gas wellhead monitoring. Water and hydraulic pump monitoring up to 6,000 PSI. Compressors and pneumatic systems. Air filter loading checks. HVAC diagnostics and temporary service trials where permanent instrumentation is not worth installing.

WEPS06, WEPS25, or WEPS04?

All three are wireless pressure sensors, but they solve different problems. Choose the WEPS06 when the reading needs to reach a control panel, PLC, or datalogger rather than a phone, when you need relay contacts for alarms, or when the distance is measured in thousands of feet rather than hundreds. It is the only one of the three that can drive a 4-20 mA loop or trigger an alarm unattended.

Choose the WEPS25 when you want a stored record you can export to a spreadsheet and you are happy reading it on a phone. Choose the WEPS04 for the simplest and lowest cost option when you are standing near the equipment. The WEPS06 needs a receiver; the other two need only an app.

Common Questions

Do I need anything besides the transmitter? Yes. A compatible PS6W receiver is required. Everything else, including the battery, ships with the unit.

Can it trigger an alarm? Yes. The PS6W receivers provide relay contacts for alarm functions, so the WEPS06 can act on a pressure threshold without anyone watching a screen.

How long does the battery last? Up to five years at the default ten second update rate. Faster update rates shorten that; slower rates extend it. The battery is user replaceable.

How far will it actually reach? About 1,640 feet line of sight with the standard receiver, and up to roughly 2,500 feet with the optional 3 dBi antenna. Walls, metal structures, and equipment all reduce that.

Can I use it in liquid? The port is compatible with oil, water, gas, and other non-corrosive media. In non-air applications the sensor works on a temporary basis and needs time to dehydrate afterward. Submerging the unit itself is rated IP68 but causes signal loss.

How do I pair it? DIL switches inside the unit set the RF network, update rate, and channel number. Both transmitter and receiver default to network 1, so a default unit works with a default receiver out of the box.
